What is the Cornerstone for the Future Campaign?

The continued success of Lubbock Christian School in both academic and extracurricular endeavors requires a master plan.  This includes new construction and renovation of existing facilities to ensure the advancement of the school's programs and goals. The Cornerstone Campaign is about preparing for a strong future by building on the solid foundation of the past.  It is a comprehensive fundraising program initiated to raise the necessary funds to strengthen Lubbock Christian School ministries and programs, allowing for growth in the demand for Christian education in the greater Lubbock area.

In 2002, a long-range planning committee was established to create a master plan for the current campus — a plan that will maximize the use of facilities and green space for many years to come.  The result of that plan was a 5 phase building initiative called the Cornerstone for the Future Campaign.

What is included in each phase of the Cornerstone for the Future Campaign?

In 2006, over $4.2 million was raised toward the completion of Phase 1: a state-of-the-art science and music facility known as the E.K. Jr. & Estelle Hufstedler Science and Music Center.

Phase 2 saw the completion of the Eagle Athletic Center in 2010 and the addition of a cafeteria and kitchen.  Through the generous financial support of LCS families and corporate sponsors, this athletic center now serves as home to a number of regional athletic tournaments and clinics, allowing tens of thousands of students and parents each year to experience the vibrancy of the LCS culture.

Phase 3 of the Cornerstone Campaign provided an incredible two-story elementary building that houses students Pre-K through 6th-grade and is known as the Peter H. Dahlstrom Early Learning Center.  Not only did this new facility retire the barracks which were over 75 years old, dilapidated and posing significant repair and maintenance challenges, but it also serves as a powerful first impression on Lubbock area families looking for quality Christian education when they visit our campus.

Through the generous donations of businesses, families, employees, alumni, foundations and various other supporters of Lubbock Christian School, we were able to raise the majority of the $6.25 million needed for this project.  We still have a little way to go in securing our debts on this project, but with your help we know we can make this happen.

How can I help?

There are numerous ways you can be involved with the Cornerstone Campaign initiative.   One of the easiest, yet most beneficial things you can do is pray for the campaign.   We seek God’s provision and wisdom as we work through this process and ask that you continue to lift Lubbock Christian School, its leadership, faculty, and students to our Father.

Be a connector.   If you know of a business or extended family member that you think might have an interest in the project, we would love to visit with them.  You can send any contact information or suggestions you may have to Brenna Wilson.

We need your financial support.   You have already made the most sacrificial gift to LCS that you can by continuing to send your child(ren) to this school.   It is because of you and your dedication to Christian education that Lubbock Christian School has been in existence for so long.   We understand that for many of our families, sacrifices are made in order to simply pay tuition each year.   We also understand that many of your children will never benefit directly from all phases of this plan.  But we are asking that you look beyond both of these things and consider how you might be able to “pay it forward” for the future generations of this school.   With your financial help, we can ensure that Lubbock Christian School is able to continue to provide a quality education in which each child will grow in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man for many years to come.
