LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN SCHOOL REACHES HISTORIC MILESTONES, SETS NEW STANDARD

Lubbock Christian School (LCS) is celebrating one of the most transformative years in its 71-year history. Fueled by record-setting enrollment, expanding academic offerings, statewide achievements in fine arts, and championship-level athletics, LCS continues to advance its mission to be Christ-centered, academically rigorous, and community-focused. It’s a great time to be an Eagle!

ENROLLMENT AND ACADEMICS: A 5-YEAR MOMENTUM SURGE

LCS has experienced remarkable and sustained expansion, averaging 14.3% year-over-year enrollment growth over the past five years, including a peak of 22% in 2021. Confidence in the school’s mission continues to rise, with waitlists already forming in several grade levels for the 2026–2027 academic year.

2025 marked the launch of a true Middle School model, strengthening grade-level alignment and academic support for grades 6–8.
Academic excellence remains a hallmark of LCS, with 86% of middle and high school students earning Honor Roll distinction in fall 2025 by maintaining an average of 85 or higher.
Curriculum offerings continue to expand to meet the needs of today’s learners, including new courses in Accounting, Elementary Art and Music, High School Choir, Multimedia, Personal Financial Literacy and College/Career Readiness, SAT/ACT Prep, and Sports Medicine.
• The school added a Dyslexia Specialist, further enhancing individualized student support and intervention.
College readiness remains a defining strength, with graduates earning up to 15 dual-credit college hours. Since 2021, LCS seniors have been accepted to more than 50 different four-year universities nationwide.

To meet growing demand and support expanding programs, LCS strengthened its faculty with 30 new hires—20 filling existing roles and 10 added as new full-time positions across academics, administration, and support. Two internal promotions moved classroom educators into principal roles in Elementary and Middle School, reinforcing strong leadership development pathways. Among the school’s faculty, 27% hold a master’s degree or higher.

ATHLETICS AND FINE ARTS: RECORD-BREAKING EXCELLENCE

LCS Athletics continues to demonstrate exceptional growth and competitive excellence, highlighted by multiple historic achievements across programs.

Varsity football captured the TAPPS 4A, Division III State Championship, entering the postseason as the #2 seed and completing an exciting upset to dethrone the four-time reigning state champions.
Head Coach and Athletic Director Chris Softley earned his 100th career win in the semifinal round and became the winningest coach in program history earlier this season.
Varsity girls’ basketball enters this season as five-time defending State Champions, and Varsity boys are aiming for their fourth straight championship appearance.
Multiple boys’ and girls’ programs have made state appearances in recent years, reflecting the school’s growing competitive strength, athlete development, and Christ-centered team culture.

Fine Arts at LCS also reached new levels of distinction, with statewide recognition and landmark program achievements.

• In a remarkable display of campus-wide excellence, Varsity cheer won the TAPPS 4A, Division II State Championship just four days after football secured the state title, marking the first cheer state championship in school history.
One Act Play earned 3rd place in district and was named alternate to State.
Band extended its legacy of excellence, achieving a five-peat TAPPS State Championship streak from 2019 to 2024.
• Students across athletics and fine arts earned numerous All-State individual honors, underscoring the depth of talent, creativity, and commitment across campus.

FROM LEADERSHIP

“This year has been extraordinary, not just because of championships or accolades, but because of the way our students, families, and staff have embraced our mission with unity and purpose,” said Hutch Haley, President of LCS. “God is moving at LCS, and we are humbled to steward this moment well.”

“This State Championship represents far more than a trophy,” said Chris Softley, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. “It reflects the character, discipline, and faith of our athletes and coaches. I’m incredibly proud of our team and grateful to serve a school that pursues excellence in everything we do.”

“Watching our students discover and develop their God-given gifts—whether in the classroom, on the court, on the field, or on the stage—is the greatest joy of this work,” said Bill Black, High School Principal. “Recent achievements reflect the perseverance, commitment, and hard work of our students and staff.”
